Marathon boys soccer dominate regionals and move on to State Semi-Finals

Last night, the Marathon varsity boys soccer team dominated Poland in the Class D Central regional championship game after defeating them 5-0.

The Olympians came out strong right from the start, as they were up 3-0 by the end of the first half of the game with one goal from Senior Diego Castellot and two goals from fellow senior Cameron Neilson.

Coming into the second half, the Olympians kept having complete control of the game. They were keeping possession of the ball and had many chances on goal that they took full advantage of.

Marathon went on to score two more goals in the second half to put them in the State Tournament's Semi-Finals with goals from junior Trenton O'Neill and another one from Neilson.

Neilson ended the game with a hat-trick.

Up next the Marathon Olympians will take on Filmore at Faller Field in Middletown next Saturday, November 16th. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
