After a great and close championship game, the Marathon Olympians defeated Section nine champions Mount Academy 1-0 in order to make history and take the program's first State Championship title home.
The Olympians did not concede one goal throughout this whole State Tournament, after defeating Poland in the Regional Championship 1-0 and Fillmore in the State Semi-Finals 3-0.
Sophomore, Ian Gacek scored the first and only goal of the game about 15-minutes into the first half. The goal came off an assist from senior forward, Cameron Neilson as he crossed it right to Gacek to put the ball in the back of the net.
The Olympians ended the season with an undefeated record of 19-0-1.
