Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Thursday, December 5, 2019:

Blustery northwest winds will produce a spray of lake effect snow showers across the area. A few brief squalls may also be possible.

Snow showers will again be possible at any time throughout the day. The afternoon hours in particular look the most favorable for a few heavier bursts.

The snow should not amount to too much though, with most of Cortland County seeing no more than an inch or two.

Northwest winds will be between 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Temperatures will start the day in the upper 20s and will only rise to about 30 degrees. During the late afternoon, temperatures will fall back into the 20s.

Friday: Cloudy with snow, especially in the morning. Snow accumulations around two inches. Temperatures will start in the low 20s and reach a high near 30 degrees.

Saturday: A mix of sun and clouds. No precipitation expected. Temperatures will start in the low teens to mid single digits and reach a high in the mid 20s.

Sunday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. No precipitation expected. Temperatures start in the single digits, but rise into the mid 30s.

Monday: Plenty of clouds with periods of rain. No snow is expected. Temperatures will start in the mid 30s and rise to a high in the low 40s.
