Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, December 8

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Sunday, December 8, 2019:

Sunday will be a quiet day, the proverbial calm before our next weather system Monday.

A few areas of sunshine will be possible early in the day, but clouds will gradually thicken up throughout the day. No precipitation is expected until Monday morning, though.

South winds will take hold out ahead of that system, taking temperatures from a cold start in the single digits into the mid 30s for the afternoon.

Those winds will blow between 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. Higher elevations could gust a bit higher, especially in the afternoon.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Monday: Plenty of clouds with periods of rain. No snow is expected. Temperatures will start in the mid 30s and rise to a high in the low 40s.

Tuesday: More rain, possibly turning to some flurries late. Temperatures start in the low 40s rise into the mid 40s early in the afternoon, but then drop into the 30s late.

Wednesday: Back to winter with on and off snow showers. Temperatures start near 20 degrees in the morning and top out around 25 degrees in the afternoon.

Thursday: A little lake effect snow in the morning, but then turning dry and sunny. Temperatures start in the low teens and rise to the mid 20s.
