Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, December 10

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Tuesday, December 10, 2019:

A cold front will move through the area today first with rain showers, and then with some lake effect snow.

The day will start out on the mild side with temperatures, like Monday, in the low 40s. However, colder air will move in quickly. By noon, temperatures will slip into the upper 30s, and by dinner time, expect temperatures only around 30 degrees.

Scattered rain showers will be in the area for the morning. None of the rain will be overly heavy and individual showers should not last too long. As the cold front moves through, the rain will mix with and turn to snow showers.

At first, the snow will not be much to consider, but during the second half of the afternoon, some lake effect squalls will make for brief periods of poor visibility and some slick roadways.

Flurries and squalls will continue into the evening with an inch or two of accumulation.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Wednesday: A few early snow showers, then some sun. Additional squalls by evening. Temperatures start in the low 20s in the morning and top out in the upper 20s during the afternoon.

Thursday: A little lake effect snow in the morning. Some midday sun before new clouds move in. Temperatures start in the mid teens and rise to the mid 20s.

Friday: A little early sunshine, but then clouds thicken. No precipitation expected. Morning temperatures will be near 20 with afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Saturday: Cloudy with rain, especially during the morning. Morning temperatures in the upper 30s with afternoon highs in the low 40s.
