Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, December 11

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Wednesday, December 11, 2019:

Much of today will be quiet and even rather sunny. However, a late day burst of snow along another cold front is expected.

The day will start off with a chance for a few stray flurries passing through as winds shift to the southwest. Any snow should be brief with no impacts.

The sun should come out before too long and remain in place through much of the day. It will not be until after the sun is setting that clouds will roll back in in earnest.

This evening, a burst of snow will be possible as a front picks up a lake effect snow band from Lake Erie and sends it eastward. A quick inch or so of accumulation will result in poor visibility and slick travel conditions.

Temperatures will reach a high today around 30 degrees. Southwest winds of 8-12 mph will become westerly late and increase to 12-17 mph. Top gusts will come with the squall at 30-35 mph.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds. Lake effect snow should stay north of the area. Temperatures start in the mid teens and rise to the upper 20s.

Friday: A little early sunshine, but then clouds thicken. No precipitation expected. Morning temperatures will be in the mid 20s with afternoon highs near 40 degrees.

Saturday: Cloudy with rain, especially during the morning. Morning temperatures in the upper 30s with afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Sunday: Rain and snow showers likely throughout the day. Morning temperatures in the low 30s with afternoon highs in the mid 30s.
