Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, December 14

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Saturday, December 14, 2019:

Low pressure will pass directly overhead today, bringing a variety of weather conditions throughout the day.

After some overnight and early morning rain showers, the precipitation will let up for the latter morning and midday hours. This will take place as the low passes over.

Winds will be light and temperatures will peak at this time in the mid 40s. The wind will increase through the afternoon from the west and become blustery during the evening. By then, wind speeds will have built to 10-15 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

The wind will bring precipitation and colder air back into the area. At first, this will fall as rain during the second half of the afternoon. By the evening, this will turn to snow.

A few hours of evening snow will be possible before it ends around midnight. An inch or two may accumulate, especially in higher elevations in the northern part of the county. There is a small chance that higher amounts could work into the area, though.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Sunday: A few scattered snow showers. Blustery. Morning temperatures in the low 30s with afternoon temperatures slipping into the upper 20s.

Monday: A few morning flurries. Otherwise, mostly cloudy. Low temperatures in the teens. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
