Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Tuesday, December 17, 2019:

Another day, another winter weather system for Cortland County.

Low pressure will pass to our south today, keeping steady snow falling. A few periods of heavier snow are possible at times as well. The snow should taper off this evening to scattered snow showers.

Accumulations across Cortland County should be on the order of 4-6 inches, but a few areas, especially in the southern part of the county, could see a bit more.

Temperatures will not move much today and will only rise a couple degrees to near 30.  Temperatures will then drop into the mid 20s as the sun sets.

Winds will start the day from the east but will gradually swing around to the northwest as the low passes by. Wind speeds will be between 5-10 mph with gusts peaking near 15 mph.

Wednesday: Blustery with flurries and brief bursts of snow, especially in the afternoon. Low temperatures in the mid teens. Afternoon in the mid 20s.

Thursday: Morning lake effect gradually diminishes. Cold, with morning lows in the mid single digits and afternoon highs in the mid teens.

Friday: Mostly sunny skies. Moring lows in the single digits. Afternoon highs near 20 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, but no precipitation expected. Morning lows near or below zero. High temperatures in the upper 20s.
