Last night, the House of Representatives voted to impeach Donald J. Trump, President of the United States.

Trump has now become the third President in the history of the United States to be impeached by the House.

President Trump was recently impeached on two articles.

The first article, which accused him of abuse of power was voted 230-197.

Shortly after the vote from the first article, the second article that accused him of obstructing Congress was voted 229-198.

Articles of impeachment are the charges against the President of the United States that the House of Representatives. The approval of these articles from the House means that the Senate will now hold a trial to determine whether or not to remove Trump from office.

No Republicans voted against Trump during the impeachment; and Democratic representatives Jared Golden of Maine, Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey were the only Democrats to vote “no” on one or both of the articles of impeachment.

Van Drew has recently said that he plans to switch parties and become a Republican.

“Over the course of the last three months, we have found incontrovertible evidence that President Trump abused his power by pressuring the newly elected president of Ukraine to announce an investigation into President Trump’s political rival,” said Representative Adam B. Schiff, Democrat of California and the Intelligence Committee chairman, who led the impeachment inquiry. "The president and his men plot on. The danger persists. The risk is real. Our democracy is at peril!”

“SUCH ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT, DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS,” Trump stated on twitter as the debate took place. "“THIS IS AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA, AND AN ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!"

It is expected for the Senate to begin a trial to determine whether or not to remove Trump from office in early January.
