This past Friday, December 20th, the Marathon varsity boys basketball team were able to pull an early comeback on the road, as they defeated Whitney Point 68-59 to improve to a 6-1 overall record.

At the beginning of the first quarter, the Olympians seemed to struggle, as Whitney Point would jump out to an early 11 -0 run.

However, freshman guard Connor Holland was able to connect on a baseline jumper to get Marathon on the scoreboard. Diego Castellot then went to work driving and and connecting three times with Kenyon DePuy to close out the quarter on an 11-2 run.

DePuy ended the game with a total of 15-points, while Castellot finished with seven.

Going into the second quarter, Holland and junior guard, Joe Hulbert connected on 4 three pointers to give the Olympians a 2-point half time lead.

Holland scored a season high of 22-points at the end of the night.

In the second half senior forward, Andrew Tillotson, who recently came back from injury, scored 19-points and rebounded the ball extremely well to help the Olympians secure the nine-point victory (68-59).

"Having Andrew back makes us a different team and I thought Conor played his most consistent and best game of the year scoring 11 points in each half," stated Marathon head coach Jim Holland.
