Cortland County: DWI Round Up

Earlier this month, Cortland County Sheriff Mark E. Helms announced that Cortland County police agencies will participate in a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving.

The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts started on Wednesday, December 18th, 2019 and will end on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020.

Here are some recent DWI reports over the past few days:

Accused: Steven M. Blovsky, 48, of Virgil, NY.

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor) and Improper/no signal (Violation).

Details: On Sunday, December 22nd, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office stopped 48 year-old Steven M. Blovsky on Budzinski Road, in the Town of Virgil, for an improper turn signal.

Upon further investigation Mr. Blovsky was found to be intoxicated. He was then arrested, processed, and later arraigned in the Town of Virgil court and released.

Mr. Blovsky is to reappear in the Town of Virgil court on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.

Accused: Pavel V. Androshchuk, 28, of Cortland, NY.

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor); Driving W/ A BAC of .08 of 1% or More of Alcohol (Misdemeanor); and Violations of Cross Hazard Markings, Speed in Zone, Uninspected Motor Vehicle.

Details: At approximately 1:36 a.m. on December 21st, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle being operated by 28 year-old Pavel Androshchuk for speeding on Route 281 in the Town of Homer.

Pavel was then found to be intoxicated and was arrested, processed and later released on appearance tickets. He is due to appear in the Town of Homer Court on January 14th, 2020 at 4 p.m.

Accused: Timothy D. Johnson, 39, of Cortland, NY

Charges: Driving while intoxicated (Misdemeanor); Driving while intoxicated with BAC .08 or greater (Misdemeanor); and droving across hazard marking (Traffic Infraction).

Details: On Friday, December 20th, at approximately 5:32 p.m., officer’s from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Starr Road, in the Town of Cortlandville, for crossing over hazardous markings.

The operator, 39 year-old Timothy Johnson, was found to be intoxicated. He was then arrested, processed, and later released. He is due to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on January 6th, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.
