Marathon varsity girls basketball beats Tully with a dominant performance (Photos & Videos included)

Yesterday afternoon, the Marathon varsity girls basketball team defeated Tully 56-27 in order to improve to a 4-3 overall record.

The Lady Olympians had a great start to the game, as they would have a 14-point lead (20-6) at the end of the opening quarter and a 26-point lead (36-10) at the end of the first half.

"We had a scrimmage against Tully earlier in the year, so we already knew what they had," said Marathon Head Coach Andrew Pierce. "Our girls were confident that they could do a good job. I just wanted them to execute. The focus for the game was rebounding, ball control, and trying to get the ball in the paint."

Coming into the second half, the Lady Olympians kept complete control of the game. As they would dominate Tully both offensively and defensively.

"At half-time, I told the girls that Tully has a good coach and that they will definitely change some stuff up," said Coach Pierce. "I told them to be ready for a Box-and-one on Brooke, and to always be ready and not take anything for granted. We still have to execute and take charge in the third and fourth quarter."

Marathon sophomore Brooke Tillotson led the Olympians with a total of 17-points throughout the game. Following Tillitson was eighth grader Abigail Ensign who ended the game with 14 total points. Junior Madison Clark also had a great game with 11-points to her name.

Up next, the Lady Olympians will take on Southern Cayuga at home on Friday, January 3rd, 2020. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
