Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, January 4

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Saturday, January 4, 2020:

Low pressure will track just south of Cortland today, keeping our skies grey with light precipitation.

Rain out ahead of the low will fall throughout the morning. None of the rain should be too heavy. Some areas of fog will also be possible.

As the low passes by, the rain will briefly turn to snow before ending this afternoon. The best chance for snow will be after 3 PM. No more than a light coating is expected.

Flurries will linger into the evening even as the main area of steady precipitation moves off to the east. Again, accumulations will be minimal.

Temperatures will only rise a degree or two this morning. A quick jump to near or even above 40 degrees will take place as the low passes by during the early afternoon. Cooler air behind the low will send temperatures into the low 30s by the evening.

Winds will be light and variable until the low moves by, after which they will increase to 5-10 mph from the northwest.
