Police roundup: Sheriff's Office reports eight drunk or high drivers

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office reported eight impaired driving arrests since Dec. 16.

 

  1. Accused: Edward D. Moore Jr., 61, of 2386 Ames Road, Cortlandville
    Charges: Felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating without insurance, unregistered motor vehicle, unlicensed operator, speed not prudent refuse to take breath test, traffic infractions
    Details: Moore was arrested after deputies responded to a roll-over accident of a utility task vehicle at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31 near the intersection of Parks Road and Town Line Road in Homer, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Moore, the only occupant, was uninjured in the crash and officers determined he was intoxicated after helping him out of the UTV, police said.
    Legal action: Moore was arraigned Jan. 1, released and given a ticket to return at 4 p.m. Jan. 14.
  2. Accused: Steven M. Blovsky, 48, 2092 Budzinski Rd, Virgil
    Charges: Misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and improper or no signal, a violation
    Details: Blovsky was pulled over about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 22 on Budzinski Road in Virgil for an improper turn signal, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Police determined he was intoxicated and Blovsky was arrested, arraigned and released to reappear at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 in Virgil Town Court, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
  3. Accused: Haley E. Piech, 24, of Mohawk Drive, Lisle
    Charges: Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanors; second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
    Details: When deputies responded at 1:19 p.m. on Dec. 20 to a report of a woman passed out in her vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville, they discovered Piech had operated the vehicle while high on drugs, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Piech also possessed small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana, police said. Deputies discovered Piech’s driver’s license was suspended, the office noted.
    Legal action: Piech was arraigned and released to appear at 1 p.m. on Jan. 13 in Cortlandville Town Court.
  4. Accused: Timothy D. Johnson, 39, of 3958 Route 11, Cortlandville
    Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at 0.08 percent or greater, misdemeanors; drove across hazard marking, a traffic infraction
    Details: Johnson was stopped at 5:32 p.m. Dec. 20 in Starr Road in Cortlandville for crossing hazard markings and was determined to be intoxicated, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
    Legal action: Johnson was arrested and released to appear at a later date in Cortlandville Town Court.
  5. Accused: Pavel V. Androshchuk, 28, of  4 Washington St., Cortland
    Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at 0.08 percent or greater, misdemeanors; speed in zone, cross hazard markings, uninspected motor vehicle, violations
    Details: Androshchuk was stopped for speeding at 1:36 a.m. on Dec. 21 on Route 281 in Homer and was found to be intoxicated, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
    Legal action: Androshchuk was arrested and released to appear at 4 p.m. on Jan. 14 in Homer Town Court.
  6. Accused: Isaac G. Cook, 43, of 526 Pitcher Hill Road, Pitcher
    Charges: Driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent and driving while intoxicated, misdemeanors; open container and unsafe tire, infractions
    Details: Cook was pulled over after deputies saw him swerving his gray SUV back and forth at 2:15 a.m. Dec. 19 near the intersection of Route 41 and Syrian Hill Road in Solon and was determined to be intoxicated, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
    Legal action: Cook was arrested and released to appear at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in Solon Town Court.
  7. Accused: Christopher D. Towsley, 26, 8 Madison St., Cortland
    Charges: Driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor; failure to use the designated lane, an infraction
    Details: Police were called about 1 p.m. Dec. 14 to NBT Bank on Route 222 for an erratic driver and determined Towsley operated operated a white Jeep while impaired by drugs, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
    Legal action: Towsley was arrested and released to appear at a later date in Cortlandville Town Court.
  8. Accused: Todd M. Price, 40, 435 Salt Road, Groton
    Charges: Driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content at or above 0.08 percent or higher blood alcohol content, misdemeanors; improper left turn, an infraction)
    Details: Police determined Price failed to turn with a curve about 11:50 p.m. Dec. 13 on McLean Road, drove off the road and into a ditch near the intersection of East Hill Road in the Town of Cortlandville, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Officers determined Price was intoxicated, police said.
    Legal action: Price was arrested and released to appear at a later date in Cortlandville Court.
