Cortland varsity cheerleading team competes in local competition

It was a packed house last night, as the Cortland Varsity Cheerleading team competed in their first competition of the winter season. 

The Cortland Tigers hosted 12 teams in 2 divisions: 

Metro division- Liverpool, West Genesee, Baldwinsville, Henninger, Cicero-North Syracuse, and Fayetteville-Manlius. 

Empire division- Cortland, Central Square, Fulton, Oswego, Auburn, and East Syracuse Minoa.

“I think our team has done amazing things already, but we still have room for improvement,” said Cortland Head Coach Nikki Zeches. “All of our stunts went up. We’re going to solidify the stunts, and use our cheer voices a little bit more. Other than that, just being confident in ourselves.” 

Up next, the Tigers will be competing at Baldwinsville on Saturday, January 18th at noon (Coach Zeches said they’d perform at 5 p.m).
