Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, January 21

snow, winter

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Tuesday, January 21, 2020:

A large area of high pressure will move southeast from the Midwest into the Ohio River Valley. Locally, this will keep our weather mostly, but not completely quiet.

Northwest winds around the high pressure will start us off with some clouds and a couple flurries this morning. Any snow that falls should be light and brief with little to no accumulations.

As the day goes on, winds will turn more westerly and the chances for lake effect flurries will diminish. Clouds will still be around, but some sun should work out in the afternoon as well.

Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph throughout the day with top gusts of about 20 mph.

Temperatures will be a bit warmer than yesterday, warming through the teens and into the low 20s this afternoon. A quick drop back into the teens is expected this evening with some single digits overnight.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Wednesday: A good deal of sunshine. Morning lows near zero. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
