Weekend of Events: What to do in Cortland County?

Here are some of the events happening this weekend in Cortland County:

20th Annual Homer WinterFest

This year’s Homer Winter Festival will be taking place on Friday, January 24th and Saturday, January 25th. 

There will be good food and fun events throughout the Village of Homer. Friday’s events will feature a bonfire and fireworks. 

Friday’s events will go from 5 pm.-11pm., and Saturday’s events will go from 7 am.-10pm.

Community Arts Challenge Grand Opening 

There will be a Community Arts Challenge event at the Center for the Arts in Homer on Friday, January 24th at 6:15 pm. 

The theme of this year’s Challenge is “balance.”

The event will include an exhibit of the visual art entries along with performances of the music, dance, poetry and drama entries; and the awarding of prizes in the fine arts, photography, artisan crafts, choreography, music, and writing categories. Over 70 artists have entered this competition.

Winter Carnival at J.M. McDonald Sports Complex

On Saturday, January 25th, the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex will be hosting a winter carnival from 1:30 pm.-5pm. 

There will be food and fun activities all around, such as potato sack races, face painting, bounce houses, prizes, and more.

Admission prices include: 

  • $5 per person. 
  • Free for kids 2 and under.

Ice Skating will also be open from 1:30 p.m.-2:45 p.m. with $3 rentals.

SUNY Cortland men's ice hockey games

This weekend, the SUNY Cortland men’s ice hockey team will be playing two games at home. 

The team will be facing Oswego on Friday, January 24th at 7 p.m., and will then play against Hamilton on Saturday, January 25th at 5 p.m. 

Both games will be played at Park Center on SUNY Cortland’s campus.

SUNY Cortland Swimming & Diving meet vs. Le Moyne

On Saturday January 25th, SUNY Cortland's men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will be competing against Le Moyne.

The meet will take place at 1 pm. at Park Center on SUNY Cortland’s campus.
