City woman charged with passing fake $100 bill

City police arrested a woman for trying to pass a fake $100 at Red Jug Pub on Central Avenue, according to the department.

Katalyn Dixson, 22, of 6 Park St., Apt 19, Cortland, tried to pay her $18 bar tab at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday with a counterfeit $100, city police announced this morning. 

When the confronted while trying to pass the fake money, Dixson bolted from the bar, said Lt. Michael Strangeway.

“She knew it was a fake,” Strangeway said. “But in her haste to leave, she left her ID behind.”

Dixson was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday at the city police station after an interview, he said.

 She was charged with felony first-degree possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Dixson was released to appear in City Court at 9 a.m. on March 10.
