Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Wednesday, January 29, 2020:

High pressure will build in today, cutting off the flow of moist air from Lake Ontario.

A few clouds are still lingering in the area this morning, but these should burn off. Much of the afternoon, if not some of the late morning, will be filled with bright, sunny skies.

Winds will be from the north-northwest at 5-10 mph. Gusts will top out around 20 mph in the morning, then weaken for the afternoon.

Temperatures will peak in the mid and upper 20s this afternoon. Expect a quick drop during the evening underneath clear skies with temperatures tumbling into the single digits.

By Thursday morning, much of the county will be below zero.

Thursday: Sunny with some thin clouds. Lows start just below zero with afternoon highs around 30.

Friday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low teens. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Saturday: Cloudy with a few snow showers possible. Morning lows around 20. Highs in the upper 30s.

Sunday: Cloudy with rain and snow showers possible. Morning lows in the low 20s. Highs in the mid 30s.
