The Marathon Lady Olympians defeated Groton 56-29 on Senior Night. Five Marathon seniors were honored - Paige Euson, Kristi Walley, Molly Merihew, Mikayla Merihew-Williams, and Reionna Hopkins.

“Our seniors are a great group of young ladies,” said Marathon Head Coach Andrew Pierce. "They are unselfish and are willing to put the team first. I’m very proud of each of them.”

The night belonged to the seniors, as they all started the game and played the last several minutes together.

The Lady Olympians jumped out to an early 13-5 lead that saw five players score in the opening quarter. The second quarter saw more of the same, as Brooke Tillotson led the team with 12 first half points. Madison Clark had four blocks in the first half, which was big for the team defensively. The Olympians led 26-11 at the half.

“Defense is the key for us, and tonight nobody was bigger than Madison,” stated Coach Pierce.

There was no let up in the second half for the Olympians. Marathon used a 3/4 court press to generate steals and get the ball moving. Tillotson led the Olympians with 22 points. Seniors Molly Merihew and Kristi Walley each scored six points, while fellow senior Reionna Hopkins scored five.

Up next, the Olympians will host Union Springs at 7pm on Friday, January 31st.
