Last night, the McGraw varsity girls volleyball team clinched a sectional spot after defeating Brookfield in three sets at home. It was also McGraw’s last home game of the regular season.

“Our crowd is always supporting us, so to get a win like this at home is always great.” said McGraw senior captain Ashley White.

The McGraw Eagles jumped to an early start, after winning the first two sets 25-5 and 25-6. Brookfield began to fight back at the beginning of the third set, but the Eagles held on to win the set 25-8.

“They were on the ball tonight,” said McGraw Head Coach Jessyca Doran. “This game determined whether they made Sectionals or not, and they wanted it! They talked and moved. Some of them had the best game that they’ve had all season. As a team, they put it together well to come out with a win. I was very proud of all of them.”

“It has been a while since we made it to Sectionals, so it feels great to be back,” added McGraw junior captain Bayley Meade.

Meade led the Eagles with seven aces and six kills. White had four aces and four assists, while sophomore Jaiden Cortez recorded four aces and four digs.

The Eagles will be playing their last game of the regular season tonight, January 31st at Manlius Pebble Hill at 7pm.

“We are going to come out looking for another win (against Manlius Pebble Hill) to keep working on things, so that when we go to Sectionals and face those tough teams, we know exactly what we are going to do and how we are going to do it.” stated Coach Doran.

According to Section III, Sectional Volleyball seedings and brackets will be released on Monday, February 3rd.
