Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, February 4

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Tuesday, February 4, 2020:

A wave of energy traveling along a frontal boundary will spread some light precipitation into the area today.

This precipitation will start out as a few light rain showers and some drizzle this morning and into the early afternoon. As the front sags south, away from the area, cooler air will work in.

After 3 PM, freezing drizzle and spotty flurries will become the dominate precipitation type. Little to no accumulation is expected, but untreated surfaces could get slick.

The chances for freezing drizzle will become less this evening as snow becomes the dominate precipitation type. A light dusting will be possible before the snow moves south overnight.

Temperatures will hold just above freezing until the late afternoon, when they retreat. Expect a slide into the 20s during the evening.

Winds will be light and variable to start, but will stabilize and increase by the late morning. Northwest winds of 5-10 mph are then expected throughout the day with gusts of 15-20 mph.
