Syracuse man arrested for Homer Ave. burglary

Police arrested a Syracuse man for burglary Monday on a warrant from Cortland City Court for illegally entering a woman’s Homer Avenue home, according to city police.

State police arrested Quashawn Prince, 27, of 410 Chemung St., Apt. 2, Syracuse, at 8 p.m. at his apartment, according to Lt. Michael Strangeway.

On Feb. 1, Prince illegally entered a 21-year-old woman’s home and stole her Apple Iphone and Ipad, Strangeway said.

Prince was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, felonies, as well as second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

Prince was released and is set to reappear at 9 a.m. on March 10 in City Court. Under the bail reform laws enacted Jan. 1, bail cannot be set on second-degree burglary, a charge levied against those accused of burglarizing a dwelling without using a weapon or threatening to use one, as well as those accused of injuring another person not involved in the burglary during the commission of the crime.
