Last night, the Marathon varsity boys basketball team hosted senior night, as they defeated Tioga 61-31.

The Marathon Olympians got out to a fast start. Senior Diego Castellot nailed four 3-pointers and ended the first quarter with 14 of Marathon's 25 points.

Some great ball movement and unselfish play carried the Olympians to a victory over the Tigers from Tioga. Marathon locked down defensively holding the opposition to just 8 pts in the second and third quarters.

The Tigers were led by senior Sam Taylor who connected on three 3-pointers and a team high of 15.

The Olympians were led by Castellot with 26 points. Senior Kenyon DePuy dropped 12, while Andrew Tillotson had nine and Owen Hoyt scored eight.

"We came together well as a team,” said Marathon Head Coach Jim Holland. “It was senior night, so we knew that we were going to get some good play out of them. Castellot was focused and dialed in to start the game. He and our other seniors played hard and well tonight. Guys are starting to click as a defensive unit. We need to get guys healthy and prepare for the IAC Championship.”

Up next, the Olympians will be disputing the IAC Championship at Tompkins Cortland Community College against Newfield on February 20th at 7:45pm.
