Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, February 15

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Saturday, February 15, 2020:

High pressure will be in control of the weather today as it passes through the area and ends up to our east.

Underneath this high, temperatures are off to a cold start. However, winds flow clockwise around high pressure, so as the high moves east, our winds will turn to the south.

Those south winds will be between 7-12 mph today with gusts as high as 20-25 mph.

As is usually the case, the south wind will bring in warmer air. Aided by sunshine, temperatures will rise in a hurry on their way to highs in the upper 20s.

Some thin clouds will work in this afternoon, filtering but not totally blocking the sunshine.

Tonight’s temperatures will stick in the 20s as the south wind continues and clouds thicken. No precipitation will fall though.

Here is a look at the weather forecast for the next several days:

Sunday: Sun and some clouds. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Tuesday: Cloudy with periods of rain, starting as a little snow early. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: A mix of sun and clouds with scattered lake effect snow. Temperatures start in the upper 20s but fall to the upper teens for the afternoon.
