Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Wednesday, February 19, 2020:

Today will be a classic winter day for Cortland County as northwest winds bring on and off bands of lake effect snow into the area.

The snow will be possible throughout the day, coming and going as it pleases. A few of the snow bands could bring some heavier bursts of snow, but they will depart as quickly as they move in.

Accumulations will only be an inch or two across most of the area thanks to the transient nature of the snow bands. A few glimpses of sunshine may even be possible.

Temperatures will hold steady in the mid 20s today. Evening temperatures will then dip into the teens with single digits by Thursday morning.

Winds will again be blustery today, coming from the northwest at 12-17 mph. A few gusts could go as high as 35 mph during the late morning and early afternoon hours.

Thursday: Another day of flurries and squalls. Morning lows in the upper single digits. Afternoon highs in the upper teens.

Friday: Lots of sunshine. Morning lows in the mid single digits. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 10. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Sunday: Sunshine early with thin clouds in the afternoon. Morning lows around 10 with afternoon highs in the low 40s.
