Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, February 21

Your Finger Lakes Weather forecast for Cortland and the surrounding areas for Friday, February 21, 2020:

High pressure will spread across much of the United States, including Central New York, for the next several days.

With the center of the high pressure system staying to our southwest, then south, winds locally will be from the southwest today.

The first impact these winds will have is to remove any lingering lake effect this morning and shift it far to the north. Instead of snow showers, we will see sunshine throughout today.

Temperatures will respond to the sunshine and southwest winds by climbing from a cold start to highs in the upper 20s.

For tonight, skies will remain clear and temperatures will drop into the 20s. Overnight lows should be in the mid teens.

Warmer weather will move in this weekend as the southwest winds and sunshine continue.
