Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, February 27

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, February 27, 2020:

The biggest story today will be the strong winds in the wake of last nights rain turning to snow.

Snow is continuing this morning, but will taper off by the mid-morning hours. There will not be too much of a break though.

Cold moist air rising up the higher elevations will lead to more snow throughout the day. Most of Cortland County will see an additional inch or two this morning, and another inch or two during the afternoon.

West winds will increase this morning with gusts of 40-50 mph continuing throughout the day. These winds will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Temperatures will slowly decline today, dropping into the mid 20s this afternoon and the low 20s this evening.

Little change is expected tonight with continuing snow showers and strong winds.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Scattered snow showers. Still windy. Morning lows in the mid teens. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
