Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, March 12, 2020:

High pressure will be moving out of the region as an area of low pressure tracks into the Great Lakes.

Between these two systems, south-southeast winds will return, allowing warmer air back into the area.

Through the morning, the wind will be light at around 5 mph. Wind speeds will increase to around 10 mph for the afternoon and to 15 mph in the evening. By the evening, gusts will start to eclipse 30 mph.

Temperatures will reach the low 50s this afternoon. Evening temperatures will dip into the mid 40s before rising back into the upper 40s overnight.

For the daytime hours, our weather will be tranquil with more influence from the high than the low. Clouds and sun will alternate, but ultimately, there will be more clouds.

A few rain showers will start to enter the region this evening with steadier, heavier rain after midnight. Rain amounts should stay under a half-inch by Friday morning.

Monday: Sunny with a few thin clouds. Morning lows in the upper teens. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
