Cortland County Office Building Starts Pre-Screening People Due to COVID-19 (Photos Included)

Beginning Tuesday morning, anyone coming to the County Office Building for appointments or services will be re-routed to the County Office Building gymnasium for a COVID-19 p to determine if individuals are showing signs of sickness. The Department of Social Services, Area Agency on Aging, and other County Departments will have staff stationed in the gymnasium to respond to immediate needs.

Here are the screening questions being asked:

Anyone with business at County facilities is directed to call before coming to county facilities. At this point, many discretionary appointments and meetings have been canceled or postponed.

County staff will be on-hand to collect any necessary paperwork that must be filed and those documents can be dropped off at the County gymnasium. As was announced all Senior Center facilities will be closed starting Tuesday and Meals on Wheels services will continue but may be done under a modified schedule.

All deliveries to County facilities will be staged and outside vendors will not be permitted access unless necessary and subject to pre-screening measures.

Operations in the County Courts have been suspended except criminal trials already in process and any emergency Court matters. All required arraignments for criminal matters will be held at the County Courthouse.

Access to the Cortland County Department of Motor vehicles and the Cortland County Career Works Center will be limited. The public is encouraged to transact as much business via the internet as possible.

Corpora went on to say, “this is an ever-evolving situation and the County is attempting to be as responsive as possible to the needs of the community while attempting to safeguard public health.” Corpora went on to say, “We appreciate the public’s patience and participation as we work to control the spread of this virus”.
