Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, March 23, 2020:

A weak low pressure system will bring some late season snow to the area today, especially over higher elevations.

Snow will gradually increase this morning and continue into the afternoon. Some rain will mix in during the second half of the afternoon at lower and mid elevations. Hilltops should stay all snow.

Accumulations will primarily be on grassy surfaces, with less than an inch at lower elevations, and as much as three or four inches in the hilltops across the northern half of the county.

Temperatures in the hills will stay in the low to mid 30s this afternoon, while lower elevations get several degrees warmer.

Precipitation will come to an end this evening with clouds and some drizzle in its wake. Temperatures should hold steady in the mid 30s through the evening.

Winds will be blustery from the southeast this morning with gusts over 35 mph. The wind will diminish greatly for the afternoon, with top gusts dropping under 20 mph.

Wednesday: Another round of higher elevation snow and lower elevation mix. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Thursday: Clouds and a little sun. Maybe a late shower. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Friday: Partly cloudy and dry. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
