Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, March 28

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, March 28, 2020:

A warm front will lift toward our area today, but the warm air will not start to arrive until early Sunday.

Instead, clouds will thicken this morning and lead to a cool afternoon and evening rain.

The rain may not reach the ground early on in the afternoon, but at least some on and off showers are likely before sunset.

The chances for steady rain will increase in the evening, and a few thundery downpours will be possible after midnight.

By Sunday morning, rainfall amounts of a half to one inch are possible, with a small chance for locally higher amounts. This could lead to some urban and poor drainage ponding of water.

Temperatures will be held in check by the clouds and showers. After rising into the mid 40s this morning, temperatures will retreat to the low 40s this afternoon, and remain there for the evening and overnight.

Winds will be from the southeast at 5-10 mph during the daytime hours and into the evening. Stronger winds will start to develop closer to dawn Sunday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Scattered showers. Maybe a late day thunderstorm. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.

Monday: Cloudy with rain showers or drizzle. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: Cloudy with a couple spits of rain. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: More clouds and light rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
