Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 29, 2020:

A large storm system will continue to impact the region today.

On and off showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible at most any time today. That is not to say that it will be raining all day though; There should be numerous periods of dry weather.

Low pressure will track into the Great Lakes and southern Ontario. This is a favorable path for gusty winds, which we will indeed see today.

The winds will be from the southeast at 15-20 mph with gusts around 40 mph. The higher elevations in the northern part of the county have the best chance at seeing gusts over 40 mph.

Any thunderstorms that develop could also contain gusty winds as well.

With a southeast wind, the core of the warm air will not make it into the region. While the Rochester area pushes towards 70 degrees, here it will be closer to 50 degrees.

A cold front will arrive during the early evening, bring cold air and lighter winds in for the evening.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Monday: Cloudy with plenty of light rain and drizzle. Morning lows near 40. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Tuesday: More light rain and drizzle but tapering off some late. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Wednesday: Another cloudy day with a bit more rain and drizzle. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Thursday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs near 50.
