Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, April 29

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, April 29, 2020:

Our weather today will start to react to an incoming, but slow-moving weather system.

First, an initial push of warmer air will trigger a few light, scattered showers this morning. Many areas will not see rain this morning, and those that do should only see enough to just barely wet the pavement.

The late morning, midday, and most of the afternoon should be dry with clouds and some breaks of sun.

Southeast winds will increase during the morning, reaching speeds of 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph. These winds will continue into the evening and overnight.

A better chance for rain showers will arrive in the late afternoon and evening. Still, not everyone will see rain even then. That will not be the case on Thursday.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Periods of rain, some heavy, especially late. Localized flooding possible. Windy. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs mid 50s.

Saturday: Morning clouds and perhaps a shower. Then, turning sunny for the afternoon. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Sun, clouds, and perhaps a few light rain showers late. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.
