Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, May 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, May 5, 2020:

Our weather today will be influenced by an area of high pressure to our northwest as it builds into a gap between weather systems.

With the high in control, sunshine will return to the area. Some thin clouds far ahead of the next low pressure system will filter the sunshine at times, especially in the midday and afternoon hours.

However, no precipitation is expected from any of these clouds.

The clockwise flow of air around the high will supply north and northwest winds throughout the day.  Wind speeds will be between 5-10 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Temperatures will stay far below average as a result, with highs only in the mid 40s. Average high temperatures for early May are in the low 60s.

Evening temperatures will fall back through the 30s for another frosty night.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: A mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs near 50.

Thursday: More clouds than sun. Showers late. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Friday: Cloudy with periods of rain, possibly mixing with or changing to snow late. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Saturday: Scattered flurries likely. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.
