Local woman fakes identity and steals property

On May 7th 2020 Investigators and Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office arrested Natalie K. Jones at her residence after an investigation of a reported stolen wallet, which included credit cards.  Investigators discovered that the Defendant was in possession of the stolen cards and used the cards at two different locations in the Town of Cortlandville. The first incident occurred at Tops Market located at 3826 Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville on April 23rd 2020. The defendant presented herself as the victim and purchased merchandise during four separate transactions using the stolen credit cards. The second incident occurred on April 25th 2020 at the Kinney Drugs located at 3666 Route 281 in the Town of Cortlandville where the defendant presented herself as the victim and used the stolen credit cards to purchase merchandise from the store.

The Defendant was charged with 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th a Class “E” Felony, Identity theft 2nd Degree a Class “E” Felony, Identity Theft 3rd Degree a Class “A” Misdemeanor, and 2 counts of Petit Larceny a Class “A” Misdemeanor.

Ms. Jones was arrested and released on appearance tickets for the Town of Cortlandville Court with a court date of June 1st 2020 at 1:00 PM.
