Sheriff: Oswego man arrested for C'ville rape

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oswego man Saturday for raping a woman in Cortlandville, according to the department.

Christian A. Jackson, 18, of East 9th St. was charged with first-degree rape, a felony, as well as forcible touching, a misdemeanor.

Police were contacted about 12:45 p.m. Saturday about a sexual assault that occurred in the early morning at an address on Route 11 in Cortlandville, accoding to the department.

“The investigation revealed that the defendant had unwanted sexual contact with an adult female victim,” wrote Investigator Sgt. John Gallagher in a news release.

Officers arrested Jackson without incident on Saturday, Gallagher stated.

Further information regarding if Jackson knew the woman previously and where Jackson was arrested were not available this morning.

A Facebook profile lists an 18-year-old Christian Jackson as living in Oswego and previously residing in Syracuse. A post under “Details about Christian” states “im 18 lookin for a female to make mine,” (sic). 

Jackson was arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail, $10,000 bond or $5,000 partially secured surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court at 11:30 a.m. June 17.
