Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, May 26

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, May 26, 2020:

As we head into the final stretch of May, summery weather will continue to build into the region thanks to high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean.

Temperatures, and humidity, will continue to climb today. Highs should be into the low 80s with dewpoints rising into the mid 60s. While not oppressively humid, this first taste of mugginess will be noticeable.

Skies will generally be sunny with summertime fair weather cumulus clouds bubbling up in the heat and humidity by late morning and persisting through the late afternoon.

There is not anything in the large-scale weather pattern to trigger any showers or storms, but a brief, isolated shower cannot be completely ruled out due to the differences in heating across the diverse topography of the area.

Very lights winds will come out of the south at under 5 mph. Gusts will only be around 10 mph.

Tonight will turn mostly clear with temperatures holding in the 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Thursday: Partly cloudy. A few showers or storms late. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Friday: Periods of rain and thunderstorms likely. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: An early shower. Then, partly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
