Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, May 28

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, May 28, 2020:

Our summertime weather pattern will start to break down as high pressure over the Atlantic continues to move further from the region.

Moisture will move north on the backside of the high and out ahead of a storm system moving through the Mississippi Valley.

Clouds will be more plentiful today, though some breaks of sunshine will continue to break through.

A few scattered showers will dot the region, especially from the late morning into the afternoon. None of the rain will be heavy, and a few areas may manage to stay mostly or completely dry.

Winds will take on a more southeasterly direction with speeds of 10-15 mph. Gusts will top out near 30 mph, especially in the afternoon.

The clouds, showers, and southeast winds will all contribute to lower temperatures today, though it will still be plenty warm. Look for highs to reach the upper 70s.

A few showers will linger into the evening with temperatures not falling below 70 degrees until after midnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Morning sun and clouds. Afternoon thunderstorms, some possibly strong. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon near 80.

Saturday: Clouds gradually mix with sunshine. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
