Homer’s Reed Cleland announces another protest for justice and equality

This is a press release from Reed Cleland & CNY Black Lives Matter

Central New York March for Black Lives

“The Revolution of Values”

In 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Riverside Church in New York City. He presented his vision for “a revolution of values” to “question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies.”

Over fifty years later, the various small towns of Central New York will gather together to support Dr. King’s vision. On Saturday, June 6th, there will be a peaceful and productive demonstration in Homer, NY, to support the Black Lives Matter movement and protest George Floyd’s murder.

Demonstrators will gather in Durkee Park on Rt-11 at 12pm and walk peacefully on both sidewalks to the Homer Village Green. No violence or insinuation of violence will be tolerated. Demonstrators may continue to peacefully stand on the village green facing Route 11. All activities will conclude by 4pm.

At all times, demonstrators must wear masks, obey social distancing laws, and be under supervised control by organizers. Black clothing and signs are encouraged. We will feature music from various Black artists. There will also be various tables in Durkee Park representing local social justice organizations and offering opportunities to become politically engaged. These tables may be present until 4pm.

We march to bring awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement and systemic racism to Central New York. Our march is about listening and self-reflection. We are bringing the Revolution of Values to Central New York. We ask you to march with us.
