Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, June 9

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, June 9, 2020:

Temperatures will make a jump upwards today as a southerly flow takes shape on the backside of high pressure over the Atlantic.

South winds through the Mid-Atlantic will pump warmer air northward, even as winds at the surface here in Cortland County turn more westerly.

The wind today will be light, generally at or below 5 mph. Top gusts will be around 15 mph.

Bright, sun-filled skies will help the temperatures tap into the influx of warmer air aloft. Highs today should reach at least the low 80s with a few isolated pockets of mid 80s.

Humidity levels will be low with dewpoints holding in the 50s. The humidity will start to increase this evening, however.

Nighttime temperatures will hold in the 60s despite mostly clear skies.

Wednesday: Hot and humid. Possibly a couple afternoon thunderstorms with a better chance for rain overnight. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s to near 90.

Thursday: A lingering morning shower, then increasing sun. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Friday: Some clouds early, but then turning sunny. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Saturday: Clouds and some sun. Possibly a stray shower. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.
