Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, June 27

Today’s weather setup will be complex, which inherently decreases the forecast confidence.

Rain and thunderstorms will be possible through the morning hours. This activity spawned yesterday afternoon in the Midwest and traversed through the southern Great Lakes overnight.

How quickly the rain moves on will determine how the afternoon unfolds.

Most likely, it will be cloudy at first before some breaks of sun shine through. A few more scattered showers and storms may pop up. The more sun we see, the greater the chances for storms.

We should not see much, if anything, in the way of severe weather event, though.

The chances for showers will continue into this evening as well.

Winds will be from the south this morning before shifting to the northwest for a time this afternoon. By the evening, winds will be back to the southwest. Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph with gusts around 20 mph.

Temperatures should end up in the upper 70s or low 80s depending on how much sunshine comes out this afternoon.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Sun and clouds. A few afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Partly cloudy. Maybe a brief afternoon shower. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy. A couple afternoon showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with on and off showers and storms. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
