Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, July 2

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, July 2, 2020:

High pressure will take control of the weather for today, keeping conditions quiet, but raising temperatures.

The persistent low that hung around for the early part of the week has moved further east, taking its relatively cooler air aloft with it.

Meanwhile, warm air has moved through the Midwest, into Canada, and will today push southeast into our region.

So, despite northwest winds at the surface, temperatures will actually increase today. Look for highs in the low to perhaps mid 80s this afternoon.

Those northwest winds will blow at 5-10 mph with gusts around 20 mph.

Skies will be sunny with a few small fair-weather clouds and some thin cirrus clouds.

Tonight, there will be a small chance for a stray shower, mostly after midnight. Most areas will stay dry with temperatures slowly dropping through the 70s and into the 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Sunny with a few afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: A mix of sunshine and small clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.

Monday: Sunny with just a couple small fair-weather clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
