Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, July 7

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, July 7, 2020:

Another hot and increasingly humid day is ahead as high pressure off the coast of the Atlantic pumps heat and humidity northward.

Sunshine this morning will mix with fair weather clouds before noon. Clouds will continue to increase and grow during the afternoon.

There is a small chance for an isolated shower or storm, primarily during the second half of the afternoon or the very early evening. Most areas will not see rain, though.

High temperatures should approach or exceed 90 degrees today for some areas, especially in the city of Cortland, and in the western and southern parts of the county. Upper or even just mid 80s are more likely in the hills to the north and east.

Dewpoints will push into the mid 60s today, a jump of 5-10 degrees. That will make it feel noticeably muggier, though it should not be oppressively so.

Skies will clear tonight and temperatures will barely manage to drop below 70 degrees.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: A mix of sun and clouds. A couple scattered afternoon showers or storms. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs near 90, but cooler if rain arrives early.

Thursday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 90s.

Saturday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.
