Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, July 18

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, July 18, 2020:

High pressure off the Southeast Coast of the United States will begin to pump hot air back into our region.

This high will keep our weather quiet today in addition to being hotter. Sun-filled skies will be the rule with just a few passing fair-weather cumulus clouds.

Rain is not expected from any of the clouds at any time today or tonight.

Winds will be from the southwest early before turning more westerly late. Wind speeds will be around 5 mph with gusts to 15 mph.

High temperatures will reach the upper 80s. The city of Cortland, along with the southern reaches of the county could hit 90 degrees.

Dewpoints will stick in the 50s, so it will not feel too muggy despite the heat.

Tonight, or perhaps even late this afternoon, a deck of thin overcast will move overhead. This will help keep temperatures up for the evening with 60s not expected until after midnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late storm. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 90s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. A couple early showers. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Tuesday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Wednesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
