Cortland Police responds to overnight shooting

On 07/25/2020 at 12:52 AM, City police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 60 Central Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located an 18 year old man who had been shot once. Officers rendered first aid to the victim until TLC ambulance and Cortland Fire personnel arrived. The victim was transported to Upstate University hospital where he is listed this morning in stable condition.

Investigation revealed that several shots had been fired in the roadway on Church Street near the intersection of Central Avenue. The gunfire reportedly erupted following, and in response to, a fight that occurred earlier in the evening at a city residence. No other injuries were reported.
