Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, August 2

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, August 2, 2020:

A warm front lifting through the region early this morning will give us a small window for strong thunderstorms this afternoon.

As the front tracks north, clouds and a few showers will continue to be possible through the morning hours. The later it gets, the greater the chances for sunshine.

The best opportunity for sun will be during the early and mid-afternoon hours. How much sun we get in this time period will have an influence on our late afternoon weather.

Even without any sun, there will be a chance for a couple pop-up thunderstorms. Any sunshine would help these storms quickly develop.

If any storms do develop, there will be a chance for severe storms with damaging winds. Even a tornado cannot be totally ruled out, though the chances remain very low.

The best chance for storms will be between 3-6 PM. A few stray showers and rumbles of thunder may linger into the evening and overnight.

High temperatures today will reach the low and mid 80s. Humidity levels will be noticeably higher than the previous days.

Winds will be strong from the south-southwest at around 15 mph. Top gusts will reach 35-40 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
