Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, August 3

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, August 3, 2020:

Today will be spent under the influence of a small high pressure system extending into the area between a low over northern New England and Tropical Storm Isaias along Florida’s east coast.

Areas of clouds this morning, and perhaps a stray, brief shower, will gradually be replaced by sunshine.

The sun will hold into the afternoon, but late in the day, thin clouds far out ahead of Isaias will start to stream in from the south. Along with these clouds will be a chance for a pop-up shower or brief thunderstorm.

Between the morning and afternoon showers, most areas will still probably not see any rain. The chances for rain will continue to increase this evening and through the overnight as moisture ahead of Isaias increases and interacts with an approaching front.

Daytime winds will be from the west at 5-10 mph. Morning winds will be stronger than the afternoon winds. Top gusts, also in the morning, will be near 25 mph.

Afternoon highs will reach into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Evening temperatures will drop into the upper 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Rain and thunderstorms likely. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
