Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, August 9

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, August 9, 2020:

High pressure will keep our weather sunny and quiet today as temperatures take a jump.

Patchy fog will be possible in the river valleys early this morning, but as usual, should burn off quickly once the sun is up. From there, expect lots of sunshine throughout the rest of the day.

Of course, a few fair weather clouds will bubble up and some thin cirrus clouds will pass through. None of these should do much to block the sunshine and no rain will fall.

Winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph. That will lead to an increase in temperatures and humidity, though it will not yet be too uncomfortable.

Look for afternoon highs to reach the low 80s. The southern and western edges of the county could sneak into the mid 80s. Dewpoints will be in the upper 50s and low 60s, which is more humid than yesterday, but still barely noticeable.

Clear skies are expected this evening with temperatures slowly falling through the 70s and into the 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Monday: A mix of sun and clouds. Very low chance for an isolated afternoon shower or storm. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Tuesday: Sun, clouds, and a few scattered showers or storms. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.
