Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, August 19

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, August 19, 2020:

Low pressure has been hanging around eastern Canada since the weekend, but will finally get the boot today from an incoming high pressure system.

The morning will be marked by some periods of clouds and a few stray showers. Like the last couple days, the rain should generally be light and brief, and not everyone will see any.

As the high builds in, the clouds will move out, leaving a gradual increase in sunshine through the afternoon. By tonight, skies should be mostly clear.

Northwest winds will be blustery again today, but not quite as strong as yesterday. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph with gusts around or just above 20 mph.

High temperatures will most likely fail to reach 70 degrees today for the first time since mid-June. Look for highs in the upper 60s for most of the county, but mid 60s may hold on in the hills to the northeast.

Temperatures tonight will quickly fall well into the 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun early, then increasing clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Saturday: Sunshine filtered through thin clouds. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy. Maybe a couple showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.
